Montreal World Film Festival - "Peau d'ange"
Comments by Nathalie Petrowski, La Presse, 8/28/02

Throughout the weekend, I searched the corridors at the Montreal World Film Festival by asking everyone, "Did you see Vincent?" I speak, of course, of the beautiful Vincent Perez, the French actor, the phantasm of the ladies and the hairdressers and the first true star of the festival, where he presents Peau d'ange, his first feature-length film as director.

Not having followed his career, I did not know what he looked like. Moreover, I have the annoying tendency to confuse him with Vincent Martinez and Sergi Lopez for obvious syntactic reasons.

For 48 hours I sought Vincent Perezx as much as the girl in Chacun chereche son chat. I searched for so long that I was weary.

On Saturday evening at the door of the Misonneuve room, I didn't think any more of him, only of the beautiful David Boutin, who came in my direction... Being a fan, I advanced timidly toward him to say bonsoir (good evening).

"Bonsoir," he answered me with a smile like we had always known each other.

I followed his glance for one moment before taking my place in line. And then a bell started to ring in my head, while a flash of clarity crossed my conscience. I rewound the 30-second-old film of our meeting and then sank in shame.

It was not David Boutin, whom I had just greeted like a tart. It was Vincent Perez!
