In Cannes today attention was
turned to a highly anticipated film in competition - Terrance
Malick's "The Tree of Life". Included in the parade of
glamorous personalities was Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, as well as
Vincent and Karine. Besides the red carpet screening, attendees
enjoyed the party at Terrazza Martini, located on the beach of Gray
Albion. Also in attendance was Karine's sister Virginie and her
husband, Luc Besson. While Vincent accommodates the press and is
always gracious, his brother-in-law isn't so enamored by
photographers, who sometimes boo the director! Here's an
interview with Vincent. Word has it that filming for "Alone
in Berlin", directed by Vincent, will begin in early 2012 with
Martina Gedeck and Martin Wutke among the cast. Check out the new
Cannes 2011 Photo Page.

In an effort to promote their
upcoming film, UN BAISER PAPILLON,
Karine and Vincent gave an interview on Rouge FM during their stay
in Cannes.
For the premiere of "The
Artist", Vincent and his wife donned Giorgio Armani outfits and
looked elegant as usual.

Yesterday the duo attended the
annual dinner of Finch's Quarterly Review (FQR) at the Hotel
Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d'Antibes. The event, organized by Charles
Finch, honored British producer, Jeremy Thomas,
before a gathering of celebrities from
film, business, fashion and culture. Among
the guests were Rolling Stones Mick Jagger
and Jane Fonda. The photo below shows Vincent and
Karine with Diego della Valle.

Here are the first photos of
Vincent's appearance at the 64th Cannes Film Festival. I've included
this year's poster, which I find most appealing. It's a gorgeous
retro image of Faye Dunaway, originally taken by photographer Jerry
Schatzberg in 1970. Three years before I had the chance to watch her
in a scene during the shooting of "The Thomas Crown Affair." in
Boston. She was sooooo lovely! No surprise that Ms. Dunaway and Mr.
Schatzberg were on the red carpet together.

Yesterday
Vincent was back in his hometown of Lausanne, Switzerland, attending
a painting exhibition at the Chateau d'Ouchy. It appears that
his younger sister Estrella is an artist and he came to
support her endeavor. He told the press, "It's the first time I've
seen all her work together. I'm proud of her but also anxious for
her." Vincent claims to be a Picasso admirer and his presence at the
exhibition attracted many viewers. Check out the exhibition
interview
at this link.

Each year when May rolls
around, Vincent's fans wonder if he'll show up on the Croisette at
the Cannes Film Festival. Since 1994 when he made his first
Cannes appearance with the film "Queen Margot", he's attended at least a
dozen times. This year his wife Karine will be there on the
sidelines benefiting from the event to ensure the promotion of her
film, UN BAISER PAPILLON. Therefore, we should probably
expect to see some photos of Vincent cropping up. With the June 1st
premiere date on the horizon, Karine has stepped forward into the
limelight. Here's an interview with
Canal Plus and one at the
15th
Rencontres du Cinema de Gerardmer last month.
Karine also did a photo shoot
back in March. I'm not quite sure why the photographer wanted such
serious poses because she really has a lovely smile.
